Location
The wild southwestern coast of Alentejo is a remote and very special corner of the country which has always been popular with Portuguese visitors and is now being discovered by adventurous outsiders. Many international explorers are starting to make this place their home.
From Lisbon, or from the Algarve, the motorways gradually turn into narrower country roads as you follow the routes to Odemira and the winding N120 takes you to the turnoff where your off-grid adventure begins.

An avenue of pine-nut trees takes you onto our dirt road. Enjoy your short 1.5km journey through the rolling hills and mysterious cork oak forests as you follow the stars at every turn and watch out for wildlife on your route to Vale das Estrelas.
It takes two and a half hours to drive from Lisbon, and an hour and a half from Faro – our nearest airport. Seville airport is just over 3 hours drive.
There’s a good bus service to our nearby towns and the nearest railway station Santa Clara-a-Velha is 40 minutes away. Pickups can sometimes be arranged at a cost if you tell us well in advance.
